Teens

Are you struggling to navigate the challenges of adolescence?

The teenage years can be difficult and everchanging for both the teen and their parents.

Do you feel overwhelmed by all of the responsibilities and changes in your life?

Do you feel super stressed about getting into and going to “the right” college?

Are you worried that one wrong move will ruin your entire life?

Do you feel judged, misunderstood, left out, or like you’re just too different?

Do you wish you could better understand what you’re going through, value the person you are, and feel empowered to make it through these difficult years with confidence and grace?

Or maybe you’re the parent of a teenager. Have you noticed any of the following in your teen?

Concerning changes in behavior such as a sudden drop in grades, emotional outbursts, or social withdrawal, perfectionism, extreme stress, or panic attacks, the inability to handle certain situations, or refusing to open up, even when you are really trying to help.

Whether you are an overwhelmed teenager or the parent of one, your concerns need to be recognized and valued. Most sessions will be one-on-one but the adolescent can request for the parent to join a session to work through issues together. This is a safe place with no judgment.

As a parent, counseling can offer you strategies to communicate with your teenager with healthy boundaries that will allow for your teen’s increased independence and individual growth.

No matter what you and your teen are facing, their is hope and help for a brighter future.

Filial Therapy/Parenting Skills

Raising a child can be one of the most difficult jobs there is, especially if your son or daughter is exhibiting combative or troubling behavior. It may seem as though every moment of the day turns into an opportunity for conflict.

Filial Therapy is an opportunity to connect with your child. It teaches the parent how to play and communicate with young children. This type of therapy is done with both parent and child present.

Parenting Therapy is more of a solution focused therapy with opportunities to learn skills and strategies. As we work together, I can help you better understand your child’s behavior and creating a practical parenting plan to help support your family. This type of therapy can be conducted one-on-one or there will be opportunities for group settings with other parents struggling with parent techniques and strategies as well.
